SPILLED COFFEE

People like to tell stories about the world around this. It is human nature. But sometimes these stories become twisted-either by accident or by intent-and the effect is a significant impact on the public debate about important issues.

We have all heard the story of the old lady who spills coffee on herself and strikes it rich. But what we often do not hear is the kernel of truth from which this story (ostensibly about lawyers out of control) arises, showing the real truth is often corporations acting badly towards consumers. We hear the myths about how plaintiffs lawsuits are out of control, but the reality is quite different.

In the debate about the legal system, it is very important to get past the rhetoric and see what the truth actually is.

Listed below is what we like to call: The Rest of the Story.
