+ Does GTLA offer CLE seminars?

Yes! GTLA is unsurpassed in providing quality CLE programs at a discounted rate, designed to give you solid nuts and bolts of information on a wide variety of topics. + How does GTLA help me prepare for trial?

GTLA publishes and updates a Trial Practice Manual that offers a comprehensive legal reference, authored by leading trial lawyers from all over the state of Georgia. Topics include: Statutes, Pre-trial Organization, Procedure, Voir Dire, Opening Statements, Evidence, Witnesses, Closing Arguments, Court Charges, Post-Trial, and Conduct of Counsel.

+ Does GTLA have a document and deposition bank?

Yes! Visit www.gtla.org to access GTLA’s online document bank or to post one of your own to share. All GTLA members receive a free membership to www.trialsmith.com. With this membership, you are given access to all Georgia court documents free of change and access to depositions from all over the country at a minimal fee. Best of all, you can search over 100,000 depositions free of charge!

+ Can GTLA help me keep my office expenses down?

Yes! We can help with your expenses by offering discounts through a variety of companies, including UPS overnight rates, insurance of all types through Insurance Specialists, Inc., and any office supply you need through Staples. + What types of online services does GTLA provide?

At www.gtla.org, you will find a wealth of resources and information that range from Georgia and national legislative information, archived list messages and publications, GTLA Amicus Briefs and much more. Locate other members quickly with the searchable membership directory, update your own profile or pay your dues online. The website also provides a calendar of events where you and register for seminars and purchase materials.

+ What types of publications does GTLA offer?

Every member receives a subscription to our quarterly magazine, Verdict, along with a daily email update that highlights cases and pertinent legislative information all over the country. Additionally, we archive all past seminar materials and make them available at www.gtla.org.

+ Are there any committees I can join?

Absolutely! We are always looking for new volunteers to join one of our various planning committees. Just a few of the opportunities include: Education, Membership, Legislative, Editorial Board, and Communications. Contact GTLA today and start making a difference in your association!

+ How can I network with other members?

Whether you want to meet “face to face” or need instant answers to a question, GTLA provides a forum and solution for both:

  • General Listserves are the ultimate networking tool and give you virtual access 24 hours a day to more than 2,000 of the top plaintiff’s attorneys in the state. You can post questions and receive immediate feedback and responses to your toughest questions. All members have access to the “general listserve” as part of their membership.
  • Practice/Litigation sections are a critical tool for you to gain access to strategic advice from other trial lawyers and connect via listserves and educational seminars. You may opt to be a part of the Workers Compensation, Trucking, Professional Liability, Consumer, Family Law, Criminal Defense, Business Torts, Motor Vehicle, Product Liability, Nursing Home and more!
  • CLE Workshops are the perfect way to meet your fellow colleagues in person. GTLA holds monthly CLE workshops and three annual conventions that provide an opportunity to not only learn valuable information but also to network and socialize in a relaxed setting.
  • Local Chapter TLA’s are organized all over the state to give members a local forum to meet and discuss important issues in your community. Whether you live in Savannah, Columbus, North Georgia or in theMetro Atlanta  area, there is a local chapter that will welcome you.
+ How does GTLA represent me politically in the legislature?

GTLA employs the most effective and respected legislative team in the state that works hard on behalf of you and your clients. Members are encouraged to participate by sharing GTLA’s views and interests with their elected officials in Georgia and across the nation.

+ What is the Civil Justice PAC?

Civil Justice PAC is the political authority of our association. Their mission is to protect and support Georgia’s families and consumers against those politically powerful and well-financed special interest organizations that attempt to undermine Georgia’s Civil Justice System. Civil Justice PAC contributions and endorsements put the power of the Trial Bar behind important legislative issues and statewide campaigns that support the rights of Georgia’s consumers.
