Valdosta Attorney Pope Langdale Elected President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association
Atlanta, GA – William P. “Pope” Langdale, III of Valdosta has been elected to serve as the 61st President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association at GTLA’s Annual Convention on April 28th. Langdale, who was elected by unanimous vote, takes the reins from outgoing GTLA President Darren Penn and will serve a one-year term. He previously served as GTLA President-elect and Legislative Committee Co-Chairman.
“I am truly honored and humbled to have been selected by my peers to serve as President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association,” remarked President Pope Langdale. “I began my law career as a defense attorney in the Atlanta law firm of Long, Weinberg, Ansley and Wheeler, and received the best training that any young lawyer could ever hope for from some of the very best talent in the defense bar. I then returned home to Valdosta to practice law with my father, and since the day I returned home, I have worked hard to refine the trial skills necessary to effectively represent some of the finest and most down to earth people in our State -- the citizens of South Georgia. Having first practiced defense law in Atlanta, and now representing plaintiffs in civil suits in South Georgia, I believe that I bring a unique perspective to GTLA that will allow our Association to amplify our efforts to serve as a valuable resource to trial lawyers in every corner of the state.”
Pope is a Partner of the Valdosta-based law firm Langdale Vallotton, LLP, where his practice is focused on the representation of seriously injured individuals in personal injury and wrongful death claims. He also represents individuals and businesses in complex business litigation claims. He previously served as the Chairman of the State Bar of Georgia’s General Practice & Trial Section, is a member of the Advisory Rules Committee for the Middle District of Georgia and currently serves on the State Bar’s Elections Committee. Pope has been recognized as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer in America by the National Trial Lawyers and has been certified as a life member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, Pope is also extremely active in his community, having held leadership positions with the United Way of Lowndes County, YMCA, the Lowndes Education Improvement Foundation and Guardian Bank. Pope is a J.W. Fanning Fellow and Graduate of Leadership Georgia, one of the nation's oldest and most successful leadership training programs for young business, civic and community leaders. In addition, he is an accomplished pilot with over 2,500 hours of flight time and possesses both a commercial pilot and helicopter license.
“I am fortunate to follow in the footsteps of many tremendous trial lawyers who have served in this role before me, and I look forward to standing in the trenches alongside the finest group of attorneys in Georgia as we fight to protect our citizens’ right to trial by jury over the course of the next twelve months,” concluded President Langdale.
